Sea, sand dunes, the vlei, a floral sensation of rare fynbos plants, diverse antelope and the Potberg Mountains. Birders observe wading birds on the shores of the vlei while the Potberg Mountains are home to a colony of endangered Cape vultures. Hikers and cyclists have close-up encounters with bontebok, Cape mountain zebra, eland, baboons and ostrich. Activities are diverse and guests choose between various day walks through the rich fynbos plains or along the deserted coastline, or mountain biking along the many gravel roads or scenic game drives. Lazing on the beach and snorkelling in the many turquoise rock pools is simply another way to pass a rewarding day.

De Hoop Nature Reserve
Set near the southernmost tip of Africa, De Hoop Nature Reserve is known for its spectacular natural scenery, excellent hiking trails and abundant wildlife. This magnificent reserve stretches over 34,000 hectares of beautiful landscape covered in indigenous fynbos and inhabited by a variety of mammals including bontebok, eland, Cape mountain zebra, and baboon. The reserve also encompasses a marine section which extends for 5 kilometres into the ocean. Visitors can look forward to a wonderful selection of activities including: walking the popular 5-day Whale Trail, known as one of the best hikes in South Africa; jumping on an eco-quad bike tour and soaking up the reserve’s scenic vistas.
